Many people experience pain across the top of their foot. This is often caused by a number of different things, and it’s important to take care when walking so you don’t worsen your condition as it can be a stress fracture situation that causes intense pain and may cause other foot injuries.

Here are some other things that could cause swelling across your top foot:

  • Your shoe size is too small for your foot and so the top of our feet are being squeezed all day long. so in case of tight shoes, running shoes that aren’t suitable for your feet, for example, if you have flat feet and in general anything but the right comfortable shoes.  When this happens, it can not only lead to pain in both the bottoms of your feet but also at the tops because they will be swollen as well.
  • You might have a condition called plantar fasciitis which is an inflammation on the bottom of your arch that develops due to overuse or wearing bad shoes without proper support! This type of injury often causes pain when you walk anywhere or even just stand up from sitting down.
  • If you have arthritis in either one (or both) big toe joints then this could cause swelling across top foot problems if there’s excess pressure put on the top of your foot.
  • You might have pain when you walk or stand if there’s a small bone sticking out on the bottom of your heel and it may rub against the inside part of your shoe, causing inflammation to occur in that area which can then spread up through our feet. you should be cautious while doing high-impact activities.
  • If the bursitis is present along with gout this could also cause pain near the tops parts of our feet because these conditions often involve swelling and tenderness at those areas too!

Treatment for Top Foot Pain:

The first thing we need to do before any treatments are considered is figured out what triggered this type of pain, whether it is any type of normal activities, grip exercises or else. You need medical advice from a healthcare professional or physical therapist so you can first be assured it isn’t a situation of ankle injuries scenarios. and for the pain then you can take some sort of anti – inflammatory.

  • If pain is due to an injury, then the next step would be to take some time off of work or activity until that heals.
  • In terms of medications for pain relief, acetaminophen may offer relief but know that it doesn’t have anti inflammatory properties so you should also try taking ibuprofen as well. Be cautious though if this type of pain has been happening for a long period of time because these drugs can actually cause damage in those cases!
  • If there’s swelling present we might need to stop using that area altogether.
  • In the meantime, stay off of it for a day or two at least and elevate it to help with swelling.
  • Another thing you could do is apply an ice pack on top of your foot to reduce inflammation which will also work better if you put a towel in between the ice pack and your skin. You can even use anti inflammatory creams such as Benadryl cream to help decrease pain too! If this has been happening for awhile though please be sure not to overuse these products because they can cause damage after prolonged exposure!
